Can you please tell us your name?
My name is Mike Aremu, I’m a musician
Why did you choose music as a career?
I think music chose me, I have been into music all my life even though I didn’t think it will be a career, it was something I love to do, I didn’t think I was going to be an artiste, I didn’t have any concept of artistry like that, I was just enjoying my music.
When was that?
I was born in Kaduna, I grew up in Minna in a white-garment church, where the tradition was to play one kind of instrument so I started from there, explored every instrument, saxophone was actually the last instrument I played.
How many years have you been doing music?
All my life I have been playing music, say 26 to 27 years, but I have been playing the saxophone for 7 years now.
What has been your major challenges so far?
Well, there have been many challenges, which one to call major is the issue now, but I think finding what kind of music I wanted to do as at the time I wanted to do it, I wouldn’t call it a major challenge
Recently, Cobhams was talking about one hit, what was that one hit of yours?
I don’t know about one hit, (laughs) but my first album was under Kennis music in 1999, and since then it has been back to back, by God’s grace in Jesus’ Name.
Are you married?
Yes
Since when?
Since 2011, I thank God for a successful marriage
How has it been so far?
Well, I thank God for a wonderful marriage, I can’t ask God for more.
What are the challenges you have faced in Marriage?
Well, I have not experienced any challenge out of the norm.
How do you settle misunderstandings with your wife?
At the beginning we used to have lots of misunderstandings, my wife is British, she was born and raised in Britain. At first, we had misunderstandings but as time went on, it was easy for us to blend. Understanding is the most important thing.
How do you manage female fans?
I see them as fans. Actually, I take them as fans, I make people happy, and that is what I’m after, bringing happiness to people and impacting people positively.
How do you spend time with your family?
I spend a lot of time with my family, that’s one of the first assignment God gave to Adam.
Despite your busy schedules?
Yes, that’s one of the first assignment God gave to Adam, I try to spend time with them
So, what next now?
Well, I will be releasing songs, I have this album coming, you all should just watch out.
