INEC Result Portal 2023: How To Check Nigeria’s Election Results – www.inecelectionresults.ng

INEC Result Viewing Portal: In every election season, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) comes up with innovations in attempts to improve the electoral process.

One of such innovations is the introduction of a platform – the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), to enable citizens to view election results in real-time on an election day.

Though the IReV portal has been deployed in some off-season elections like in Ekiti and Osun governorship, and FCT Area council elections, this time (2023 general elections) the innovative digital platform, will be deployed for the first in elections conducted nationwide (presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state assemblies).

The aim of creating and deploying the system is to engender transparency in the electoral process, which will help to ensure that the will of the people really prevails.

The portal was made possible by the amended Electoral Act signed into law by president Muhammadu Buhari in 2022 which made compulsory the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS).

This technological innovation guarantees transparent accreditation of voters and upload of polling unit results for citizens to view in real-time on election day in the IReV portal.

This is done by selecting the election of your interest, Local Government Area, the ward, and the polling unit.

The electoral body had in a statement urged citizens to create account in the IReV portal of the elections to be able to view election results in the polling units across states of the federation.

“As I have said repeatedly, the commission’s allegiance is to Nigeria. Our loyalty is to Nigerians who want free, fair, credible, and verifiable elections supported by technology, which guarantees transparent accreditation and upload of polling unit results for citizens to view in real-time on election day,” said INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu.

“A transparent election process helps to ensure that the will of the people is accurately reflected. This is why the commission has resolved to use the IReV portal to upload the polling unit results in real-time for the #NigeriaDecides2023 election,” the electoral body said.

On how users can access results, INEC spokesperson said: “Click on the election of your interest and you select the state, the LGA, the ward, and the polling unit. It is the polling unit results that are uploaded. The idea is you can access and view results from every part of the country depending on the state of your interest. Why I say it is important to create the account now is because we don’t want you to experience difficulty creating an account on election day, although INEC has told us that the platform has the capacity to manage about 100 million hits on that day.”
