Ifedayo Adetifa is a Clinical Epidemiologist in the Epidemiology and Demography Department at the Programme and an Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
He is the current director of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa replaces Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, who last week took up an appointment as an Assistant Director-General at the World Health Organisation (WHO).

He received his MSc in Epidemiology from the University of London in 2009 after studying at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. His research focuses on vaccine impact/effectiveness studies, novel approaches/surveillance technologies for vaccination monitoring, tuberculosis epidemiology, and evidence synthesis, including systematic reviews.

Dr Ifedayo Adetifa began his career as a Research Clinician/Pediatrician from 2004. As a Clinician-scientist, Dr Adetifa was responsible for the design and conduct of several immunoepidemiology studies including a clinical trial aimed at elucidating the correlates of disease and protection in TB and identifying surrogates of treatment efficacy.
In addition, clinical care for primary, mono-resistant and MDR-TB, TB/HIV co-infection. Also e-learning, mentorship and technical support for TB control programmes.
From 2011 till 2014, he was a Clinical Epidemiologist, Medical Research Council Unit, The Gambia. In Gambia, he was the Principal investigator for a US$ 4 million TB Epidemiology projects portfolio.
From 2014, he was an Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Dr Ifedayo Morayo Adetifa also served overseas as a Clinical Epidemiologist at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme, Kiliufi, Kenya.
In 2021, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Dr Ifedayo Adetifa as the new Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
