How to share/transfer data on Glo to Glo line
In my previous post, I talked about how to transfer mb (data) from mtn to mtn, but today we’re going to see how to transfer mb (data) from your glo line to another glo line, otherwise known as glo gift.
People are usually confused about these two phrases “To transfer mb (data) from glo to glo” and “To share mb (data) from glo to glo”. These two phrases are always confused to mean the same while some people don’t actually know their meaning and differences.
Well they are not the same, let me clarify you on that. ‘To transfer mb from glo to glo’ literally means to send some of your mb (megabyte) from your own glo line to another glo line.
Just like the ‘glo easyshare’ which allows you to transfer airtime from glo to glo. ‘glo gift’ however allows you to transfer or buy mb (data) from any of the data plan for another glo user. In this case your airtime is not sent, rather mb is the thing that is sent to the other user.
You’re just subscribing a data plan for your family and friends using your own glo line, they’ll receive the mb of the data plan and have access to the internet until they exhaust it or it expires. While ‘To share data from glo to glo’ means you’re granting your family and friends access to the internet using your own mb (data).
In this case you’re not sending or buying them mb, you’ll only add them to your glo share list thereby granting them access to the internet in their own devices until your data plan expires or you remove them willingly.
You can control and decide the amount of mb they’ll use by transferring mb to them, but you can’t control or decide the amount they’ll use if you share your mb with them.
They’ll always have access to the internet so far you have an active data plan with data in it no matter where they are, unless you unshare your mb with them by removing them from your share list.
So I hope you wouldn’t get confused whenever you see those phrases again? Ok having known that let’s see how you can actually transfer mb from your glo line to another glo line and how you can also share mb on glo.
How to send data (mb) on glo
There are basically three simple ways of transferring or sending data from your glo sim to another glo sim. Choose any method you like, they all work super well.
1. First dial *777# using your mobile device. Options you’ll select from will be displayed to you;
You’ll be prompted to select plan to Gift, you can either select; Mini plans, Monthly plans, Mega plans, Most used plans, Special data offer or Night and weekend plans. Select any data plan you want to Gift to another glo user and press send/ok.
After that you’ll be told to “Enter Giftee Number’ (that’s the person you want to buy the data plan for. note: it must be a glo user). Ensure you enter the recipient’s phone number correctly and press send/ok.
You will receive a message immediately confirming your data gift to the recipient and the recipient will be notified of the data gift from you with the bonuses and expiry date.
2. The second way of doing this is by using this format; *127*<USSD_Plan_Number>*<Recipient’s phone number># Or You send “Gift <Recipient’s phone number>” to 127
3. You can also do this online on glo official gift portal here > Glogift< using your glo sim and follow the procedure. It’s very easy and fast.
That’s how to transfer mb from glo to glo (glo gift) but what if you have enough data on your glo sim and want to share with your family and friends instead? let’s see how you can do that.
How to share data on glo network
Instead of subscribing for all your family members or friends or your other glo lines, you can actually grant them access to the internet by sharing your data with them.
No matter where they are they’ll have access to the internet with their glo line till your data plan expires or you unshare your data with them. To share your data dial *777#
Enter Subscriber’s Number (that’s the person you want to share your glo data with). Ensure you enter the recipient’s phone number correctly and press send/ok. You’ll be notified of your successful sharing of data.
Or you can simply dial; *127*01*[Recipient’s phone number]#. E.g dial *127*01*080XXXXXXX#
You can also share mb from glo to glo by sending ‘Share [Recipient’s phone number]’ to 127. E.g ‘Share 080XXXXXXXX’ send to 127. From that moment the recipient will start having access to the internet using your own data.
Note: You must have an active data plan before doing this ( a data plan that has data in it and has not expired)
What if you want to unshare you glo data with them, that’s stopping them from using your data? that brings us to;
How to unshare data on glo
You can unshare or remove people from your glo share list thereby stopping them from using your data, it’s very simple and fast too. To unshare your data just dial *777#
Enter the Phone Number of the person you want to unshare from your data and press send/ok.
Another way of unsharing your glo data is by dialing; *127*02*[the person’s phone number]#. E.g dial *127*02*[080XXXXXXXX]# Or you send ‘Remove [the person’s phone number]’ to 127. E.g send ‘Remove [080XXXXXXXX]’ to 127.
That’s it! from that moment they won’t be able to use your data again unless you add them back.
How to know if someone is sharing your data on glo
If you suspect that an unauthorized person is sharing your data with you just dial;
*127*00#
Or you send “List” to 127
You’ll see the list of the people sharing your data displayed to you immediately.
