Andrew MacKinnon, a young player who played for Salvesen Blues 07s from Edinburgh, sadly passed away yesterday.
He played his favorite game, football before passed away suddenly. Salvesen Community Football Club has announced this sad news saying,
“Salvesen Community Football Club sadly has the heartbreaking task of announcing that one of our players Andrew MacKinnon sadly passed away yesterday, March 14th, 2023.
Everyone connected with the club would like to pass on our love and thoughts to Andrew’s family. Andrew will be missed enormously, not only was he a very talented footballer, but he was also a great teammate and a wonderful young man.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Andrew RIP.”
What Happened to Andrew MacKinnon?
On Tuesday afternoon, Andrew suddenly collapsed. The emergency services rushed to Andrew’s school to address the medical emergency, but despite their best efforts, doctors were unable to save Andrew.
Dad Andrew told that his son “was a really popular wee boy and a massive Hearts fan. He had so many friends and just loved his friends, family, and football.”
“He was such a lovely wee boy and really loved his football. Andrew died doing the thing he loved most and we are all heartbroken.”
“We will be at Forrester at 4 pm to put his strip up behind the goals and remember Andrew. Anybody is welcome to come.”
A teen died after collapsing at an Edinburgh school. Near Forrester High School, on Broomhouse Road, a 15-year-old student had a medical emergency just after 3 p.m. today; according to police, there are no suspicious circumstances. Despite the request for an ambulance, the young child died.

Andrew’s family in Edinburgh has been devastated by the tragic death of their son who died while doing “what he loved most.”
While playing football, 15-year-old Andrew became ill and tragically passed away from heart failure. Andrew MacKinnon cause of death was a heart failure.
A message posted by friends of his family said:
“On Tuesday, 14th March, we sadly lost Andrew. He was doing what he loved, playing football, and suddenly passed away. He was a lovely, caring boy and adored his family. A few years ago Andrew went through massive surgery – he’s was the strongest lad and powered through life with the biggest smile on his face.”
The talented footballer and devoted Hearts fan, who played for the Salvesen Blues 07s, leaves behind his sisters Aimee, 20, and Rachel, 17, as well as his mother Janine Dow, his father MacKinnon, 40, and his stepfather Gary Weir, 55.

“On Tuesday, March 14, police were called to a report of a 15-year-old boy having collapsed on Broomhouse Road,” a Police Scotland spokesperson said in addition to confirming the death.
The death has no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be filed to the Procurator Fiscal.” This evening, locals are welcomed to a nearby church for “quiet reflection.”
St David’s Broomhouse Parish Church read: “Following the difficult circumstances earlier today, the church will be open tonight, 2000-2100 (8 pm-9 pm) for quiet reflection and the opportunity to light a candle. All are welcome.”
