Heavy shooting as Police clash, Shitte member in Abuja (Video + Photos)

NJThere are reports of a clash between the police and members of the Shiite Islamic sect led by Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky in the Federal Capital Territory.

The police had earlier warned against unauthorised religious processions in the city.

During one of such processions last week, traffic was grounded in the capital city.

The Shiites have been protesting the detention of their leader by the Federal Government since December 2015.

El-Zakzaky is being held by the Department of State Services.

During Monday’s clash, several shots were reportedly fired, with one hitting an office building (picture attached).

As at press time, there has been no official reaction to the development.
