Govt. Threatens To Shut Down Afrika Shrine Over #EndSARS Meeting, Seun Kuti Reacts

Seun Kuti, afrobeat artist and son of the Legendary singer, Fela Kuti has reacted wildly to the government’s decision to shut down Afrika Shine should he go ahead with his #EndSARS meeting.

Apparently, Seun Kuti wanted to host a meeting that will be centered on the government’s mishandling of the #EndSARS brouhaha and its shortfalls but has been slapped in the face with a letter asking him to call if off or have his Afrika Shine being shut down.

Reacting to this, Seun took to Instagram saying he will heed to the words of his family by calling off the meeting but will go-ahead with the launch of his resistance group, known as ‘The Movement of The People’

So yesterday the government called my eldest sister @yeniakuti and threatened to close the shrine if I hold my event there tmr and also sent a letter to back it up.

I respect my family’s decision not to hold the event as is but I will still go ahead with all the other organizations to launch THE MOVEMENT OF THE PEOPLE tomorrow and start our political resistance to the tyranny of this oppressive regime.

This is a meeting, just a meeting of organizations and they are basically banning the right of association. Why are they afraid of the people organizing?

What is democratic about this act? The last time we tried to launch the government quickly called curfew and this time they have used threat but you can’t stop the will of the people. #getthesax #liberationgeneration #wenodoagain #endoppression.”
