FPE’ SUG President, SIWES 10months Tenure In Office
As the Student Union Government President of Federal polytechnic Ede (FPE) prepares to vacate the office after 10 months of his tenure, many are talking about the success of his tenure.
“Siwes is alive”. That was the campaign slogan of comr lukman rufai (SIWES) as he contested the students’ Union government (SUG) Elections of Federal Poly Ede (FPE) about 10 months ago.
September 9th 2019 will forever remain fresh in the history of FPE students. It was a day no fewer than 5000 students took to the street to protest the against ASUP , tags (SIWES MUST GRADUATE).
Despite the threat thrown at him, SIWES excel.
He was threatened that , he won’t graduate from FPE but he remembered his campaign manifesto and he made it bold to them that FPE students deserve the best form of treatment.
He told them that without students FPE won’t exist and without FPE they won’t exist, thus they must give our students maximum respect in their dealings.
Iguodala, a final year student said SIWES is one of the best SUG presidents FPE has ever had.
The achievement so far are:
- Oratory contest for a day SUG President
- Reduction of tuition fee
- Extension of school portal till the end of examination
- Provision of bulbs to classes in need during exams.
- Swift response to students complain
- Making available of indoor games at the relaxation center.
- Novelty match between SUG and faculty/ departmental federal polytechnic ede
- The 10th convocation novelty match between adeleke university and federal polytechnic ede
- Extension of generator hours.
- Organizing sensational walk tagged NO TO SUICIDE
- And many more numerous achievement.
SIWES advised Union leaders to fight for students that they were elected to represent. According to him, said he was more interested in building a good name than enriching his pockets.
“Today we hear of Nelson Mandela, Obafemi Awolowo. These persons used leadership to cause a change and we remember them for their good dead. Unionist should ensure that their goals are for the persons they are called to serve”, he said.
