FPE Management Vs ASUP Crisis – NANS Calls for Intervention
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (NANS) ZONE D (SOUTHWEST)
Nov 5, 2020.
The Federal Polytechnic Ede (FPE) Post COVID-19 Imbroglio Saga
It’s so disheartening and objectionable that after a long-term COVID-19 break (6months 24days) recently embarked on by all tertiary institutions in Nigeria, FPE students are now facing an unwelcome No Lectures saga initiated by an internal crisis between the Academic Staff Union Members (ASUP) FPE Chapter and the FPE Management bodies.
To be sincere, I called this treatment of the Nigerian Students inhumane as the management isn’t considering lot of months just wasted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, this really sounds like an incompetent administration as both the School Management and the ASUP of the institution already okays two (2) dates for resumption after complying with the COVID-19 protocols and also embarking on a facility tour to cross-check all school premises for safe resumption.
Furthermore, I labelled this savage behavior manifested by both the management and the ASUP irrational as Nigerian Students are asked to embark on another #ENDSARS and COVID-19 indefinite break which is otherwisely tagging the peaceful Nigerian Students hoodlums and defaming their good character conduct in which we surely demands an immediate official apology for.
In conclusion, without pondering wittily the management is asking all students (hostelite) to vacate the school premises within 12 hours ultimatum which is totally ridiculous without considering transportation hazards or security of the students. To think of it, this mostly leads to waywardness and endangerment of lives as many students (hostelite) doesn’t have where to hide themselves or stay when they’re been chased out. Also, all hands are not equal especially in this country of ours in which most students (hostelite) couldn’t afford transport fares back to their respective houses as they just resumed hoping to start their examinations.
I hereby call upon the entire Nigerian Students and all Educational bodies for prompt intervention on this matter as all we demand for is immediate academic activities resumption.
God bless Nigerian Students,
God bless FPE,
God bless NANS,
God bless Nigeria.
