Fire Razes Shops In Osun, Destroys Goods Worth Millions Of Naira

Fire on Sunday razed some shops in the Station Road area of Osogbo, Osun State and destroyed goods worth several million of naira.

Our correspondent gathered that the fire destroyed weave-on, electronics and office furniture in the shops.

Speaking with our correspondent, ashop owner, Demilade Yusuff, said that the cause of the fire was not known, adding that many shop owners rushed down when news reach them about the incident.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer for the state fire service, Ibrahim Adekunle, said an electrical appliance left unplug in one of the affected shops, was suspected to have caused the fire.

“The source of the fire yet unknown, but we suspect that an electrical appliance left plugged since Saturday led to the fire incident.

“Estimated loss could not be ascertained for now, but property saved is worth N100m. The situation is under control,” he said.
