According to Lagbaja, his mask is used as an icon of man’s facelessness. Lagbaja is a Yoruba word that means “nobody in particular”.
It depicts the anonymity of the so-called ‘common man’. The mask and the name symbolize the faceless, the voiceless in the society, particularly in Africa. He is also known as Omo baba mu’ko mu’ko.
Meanwhile, celebrations are in order for the kingdom of Benin as the Oba, Omo N’Oba Ewuare II and his second wife, Queen Iyayota as they recently welcomed their newborn child, a bouncing baby boy.
This comes over three years after the monarch ascended the throne in 2016. The Oba made the announcement at a press briefing at his palace through the Iyase of Benin, on Monday, May 18.
The Oba thanked God and the ancestors for the baby, noting that mother and child are alive, hale and healthy.
