Exclusive: DJ Switch Arrested by Lagos State Police
Nigerian disc jockey and Endsars activist, Obianuju Catherine Udeh aka DJ Switch is being transported to the Eti Osa magistrate court after being taken into custody by the Lagos State police.
A police source who talked with LIB said that DJ Switch went to the police on Monday, April 15, in Elemoro, Ajah, to file a complaint regarding a man who she claims scammed her. The individual was taken into police custody that same day, according to the authorities.
As it is illegal to hold an accused person for more than 48 hours, the police source said that DJ Switch was subsequently invited yesterday, April 17, to find out exactly what she wanted—that is, whether she wanted the accused person charged in court or freed on bail.
According to the insider, DJ Switch made it clear that all she wanted from the accused was an apology, which she would record and then publish online. The accused, however, reportedly flatly refused. Since neither party was bulging at this point, the police decided to take the case to court.
The police source claimed that DJ Switch used her car to block the station’s entrance and reportedly assaulted the female officers assigned to the case as they were about to leave with the accused to go to court.
She was subsequently taken into custody on charges of assaulting police officers, resisting arrest, and hindering law enforcement while on duty. After being brought before the court, the accused was placed under remand in jail.
DJ Switch is currently being moved to the Eti-Osa magistrate court to appear in court on charges of assaulting and obstructing police officers while they are on duty.
