Ex-Cross River PDP Campaign DG Joins APC
Mr. Asuquo Ada, a prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader in Cross River, has left the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ada’s defection adds to the recent wave of exits from the opposition party within the state.
In a statement to NAN in Calabar on Friday, Ada explained his decision to align with the APC, which currently governs both at the state and federal levels.
Previously serving as the Director-General for one of PDP’s 2023 governorship aspirants, Ada formally resigned from PDP through a letter dated October 23, addressed to the party’s Enong Ward leadership.
“With firm conviction, I have resolved to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party, as circumstances have necessitated,” Ada expressed.
“Change is an inevitable aspect of life, and as circumstances shift, so must personal decisions. I wish the party success as I continue my political journey under God’s guidance,” Ada concluded.
Ada was closely associated with Gershom Bassey, a PDP governorship hopeful and former Senator for Cross River South from 2015 to 2023. Bassey remains one of PDP’s founding members in Cross River.
