A man who is reported to be a drug addict has hacked his young son to death with a machete at their home on Monday afternoon, saying that ‘voices in his head’ told him to do so.
A drug addict hacked his 5-year-old son to death with a parang at their flat in Puchong Permai, on Monday afternoon.
The boy, who was sleeping in the living room at the time, was hacked three times on the head and right wrist by his 35-year-old father.
The man, who was reportedly hallucinating, then placed the boy’s body outside of the flat, before locking himself in.
A witness contacted the police at 5.45pm after finding the boy’s bloodied remains near the 4th floor unit.
“An initial investigation revealed that only the suspect and the victim were at home when the incident happened. Police retrieved the weapon, a parang, in the flat,” Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Azlin Sadari said in a statement last night.
The boy’s body was sent to the Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem.
Azlin said the suspect had claimed that “voices” told him to kill his son. “It is believed that the suspect is addicted to ketum.
He also tested positive for methamphetamine. In addition, he has a criminal record related to drugs,” he added.
Azlin said police consider the case, which has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code, as ‘solved’ and that the suspect will be remanded at the Petaling Jaya court today.
