‘Dream Come True’: Nigerian American Pilot Flies To Nigeria For First Time, Makes Announcement In Yoruba & Pidgin
A Nigerian American pilot, First Officer Remison Bamise, has fulfilled his dream of flying to Nigeria from the United States.
Officer Remison, referred to as Remi, in a now-viral video, has fulfilled his career-long dream of flying a Delta jet from America to Nigeria, his country of origin and birth.
In the video, after making the customary introductory announcements of the pilot, staff and other essential flight information before take off in English, Remi addressed his passengers, who were mostly Nigerians themselves, in Yoruba and the Nigerian-styled pidgin English.
Remi spoke about fulfilling a longtime dream of flying to Nigeria and making it even more significant, as the pilot of a Delta Jet.
He said this first in Yoruba to the excitement of some passengers, then in pidgin, and was met with cheering and congratulations from passengers happy to share in the young pilot’s dream.
According to the captions in the video, Remi, who was born in Nigeria, always had his eyes set on flying a Delta Jet to Nigeria and when he finally got the chance to, he couldn’t help but document it.
The video has drawn numerous congratulatory comments from Nigerians expressing how proud they are to see a fellow countryman succeed.
