Dj Sumbody’s Bodyguard Sir Shawn Xo Who survived the shooting on November 20th has passed away in hospital after two weeks.
DJ Sumbody murdered in a drive-by shooting
DJ Sumbody, a prominent Amapiano performer, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Johannesburg, South Africa, according to his record company. Sumsounds Music announced on Instagram on Sunday that musician and artist DJ Sumbody had passed away (November 20).
“Details of his untimely death cannot be revealed, but the artist Oupa John Sekofa is said to have been involved in a tragic occurrence that caused him to pass away in the wee hours of November 20, 2022.
The Sefoka family and Sumsounds Music Management have respectfully asked for privacy during this trying time and will issue a statement as soon as possible.
Tributes to DJ Sumbody
The music industry has taken to social media to pay tribute to the late Amapiano music pioneer, who broke out with his 2019 debut album ‘Ashi Nthwela’ and is known for popular tracks ‘Monate Mpolaye’ and ‘Iyamemeza’.
DJ Sbu wrote on Instagram: “Sad news to wake up to. Rest in peace, my brother. Condolences to your loved ones, colleagues, team, partners, close friends, and family.
South African DJ and artist Tbo Touch wrote: “Lord please receive this gentle soul. Here’s my Brother Dj Sumbody leaving us heartbroken.”
Black Coffee said on Twitter that the artist’s death was “such horrible news”, while AKA wrote: “Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. RIP Oupa John Sefoka.”
