Deborah Samuel: Nollywood Stars Condemn Female Sokoto Student Gruesome Killing By Muslim Extremists

Some Nigerian entertainers who are devoted Muslims have condemned the unlawful killing of Deborah Samuel, a 200 level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto State.

Deborah Samuel was beaten to pulp and burnt alive in the school premises by some male Muslim students of the College of Education.

Reacting to the gruesome killing, the duo of Aisha Lawal and Ibrahim Chatta, who are devoted Muslims condemned the killing.

According to Ibrahim Chatta, the act is barbaric and not Islamic. He added that, “killing and burning for hate speech is nothing close to Islamic law”. He advised people “not to defend the religion they know less about.”

He also stated that the people involved should be arrested and punished accordingly.

He quoted three references in the Quran, where the holy prophet rose above insult and added that the perpetrators should be blamed for the unlawful killing and not Islam and Muslims.

Actress Aisha Lawal, also called the killing “pure wickedness”. She called on security operatives to ensure justice is served, adding that the “wicked barbaric fanatics” who committed the offence must be dealt with.

Lawal added, “I honestly do not know where in the Quran it is stated that you must kill for the prophet. Her killing is pure wickedness, not in any way an act of Islam. Islam is a religion of peace and light.”
