Darkest Moment In My Life – Shakira
Colombian pop singer Shakira Mebarak has described the disappearance of her voice for as her darkest moment, Naijaparry learnt.
The singer was said to have suffered a hemorrhage on her right vocal cord.
Speaking during an interview with AFP on Monday, November 4, Shakira recalled how much the ailment affected her.
“You take many things for granted when you have them… in the case of my voice, it is something that is so inherent in my nature, it is my identity,” she said.
“I always thought that one day i would lose many things, one day you lose your youth, you lose your beauty, you even lose friends, there are people who come and go… but i never thought my voice was something that could disappear,” the belly dancer said.
“When that doubt arose, when i did not know if i could sing again, it was the darkest moment of my life,” Shakira added.
“We have a lot of ideas, it is hard to do them all in a short amount of time which we have. But we will try to take advantage of it as much as possible, especially the opportunity to represent Latinos,” Shakira said.
Last year, the belly dancer made history by emerging the first Latin singer to win Best Latin Pop Album twice at the Grammys.
Shakira won the award for her “Eldorado” album after first winning in the same category 17 years ago.
Her official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)” is the biggest-selling World Cup song of all time with 10 million downloads.
