Chido Obi-Martin: Man United in Talks to Sign Nigerian-born Striker from Arsenal

Manchester United are considering signing 16-year-old striker Chido Obi-Martin, who recently concluded his schoolboy terms at Arsenal.

Obi-Martin visited United’s Carrington training facilities earlier this week, with discussions currently in the early stages, per report from the Athletic.

Arsenal had extended what they considered a fair offer to Obi-Martin, proposing a scholarship contract to transition into a professional deal upon his 17th birthday.

However, the promising forward has opted to explore other opportunities, attracting interest from several clubs, though notably not from Manchester City.

Chido Obi-Martin joined Arsenal in 2022 from Danish club KB and has excelled at various youth levels.

A junior international for both England and Denmark, he demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess with 10 goals in a 14-3 victory for Arsenal’s under-16s against Liverpool in November.

His impressive form continued, netting four goals against both Crystal Palace and Fulham, five versus West Ham United, and seven in a match against Norwich City for the under-18s.

Overall, Chido Obi-Martin scored 29 goals in 17 league matches for the under-18s last season.

Internationally, Obi-Martin contributed to Denmark’s qualification campaign for the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, scoring twice in three group stage games.
