Chelsea drive close to complete the signing of top Barcelona superstar
Chelsea are reportedly in the driving seat in their pursuit to sign Barcelona defender Xavier Mbuyamba, touted as ‘the next Virgil van Dijk.’
Mbuyamba, who joined Barca’s youth team in 2019 from Dutch outfit MVV Maastricht has enjoyed an impressive start to life with the Spanish giants.
And just a year after his move to Spain, the youngster could now be on his way to the Premier League.
Metro UK reports Chelsea are in a pole position to snap up the promising defender, with his agent, Carlos Barros, confirming the centre-back is not short of offers.
Real Madrid, Juventus and top German clubs are among those also eyeing the services of Mbuyamba.
But according to Barros, his client is likely to complete a move to Stamford Bridge after the club met the player’s desire in his pursuit to grow in the game.
“JUVENTUS AND INTER ARE INTERESTED, AS ARE TOP CLUBS FROM GERMANY AND ENGLAND. CHELSEA HAVE THE BEST CREDENTIALS. OF COURSE, WE DISCUSSED THIS EXTENSIVELY LAST YEAR,” BARROS WAS QUOTED SAYING.
“THEY GAVE A FANTASTIC PRESENTATION. THERE IS A UNIQUE FOOTBALL ATMOSPHERE THERE. DURING LUNCH YOU ARE IMMEDIATELY WITH THE FIRST-TEAM PLAYERS AND THE CLUB HAS OUTLINED A VERY AMBITIOUS PLAN FOR XAVIER,” HE ADDED.
Earlier, ngnews247.com had reported how Nigerian footballer Victor Moses is reportedly facing the possibility of him being dropped at Italian giants Inter Milan after his loan spell with Antonio Conte’s side.
Victor Moses was loaned to Inter Milan during the reign of Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge who prevented the Nigerian from winning the Europa League title last term with the Blues.
But things have not been rosy for Victor Moses since he got to Inter Milan with the former Liverpool star struggling for first place.
The 29-year-old has made only seven appearances for Inter Milan in all competitions.
Injury problems and failure to stay fit have also contributed to Victor Moses’ lack of form this season at Inter Milan.
