BREAKING: ASUU three months old strike suspended

The leadership of the University Academic Staff Union( ASUU) has suspended its industrial action nationwide.

This was announced by the union’s national president, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, during a press briefing at the Nigeria Labor Congress in Abuja on Thursday.

The decision was taken by the striking lecturers after a meeting with federal government representatives led by Senator Chris Ngige, Labor and Employment Minister.

Professor Ogunyemi announced ASUU ‘s decision to suspend the strike hours before the meeting.

It was attended by representatives of the union and government, such as the permanent secretaries of the Ministries of Education and Labor and Employment as well as some ministry directors.
