Bramwell Tovey Death Cause: Bramwell Tovey was well-known in classical music circles and performed frequently in the United States and the United Kingdom and a Grammy winner.
He was the chief conductor of the British Columbia Concert Orchestra, the music director emeritus of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, where he was formerly music director from 2000 to 2018, and the Rhode Island Philharmonic’s artistic advisor since September 2018.
In 2008, he was named main guest conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
He conducted the Sarasota Orchestra as a special visitor for the 2019–2020 season before the COVID-19 pandemic.
He took over as music director-designate on September 1, 2021.
Tovey was named the new music director of the Sarasota Orchestra in August 2021, effective with the 2022–2023 season and serving a four–year initial term.
