Botched Elections: INEC pays ad hoc staff in Osun the feeding allowance of N60 m
The Independent National Electoral Commission in Osun State paid more than N 60 m to feed its ad hoc staff for last Saturday’s postponed presidential and National Assembly elections.
Due to logistical and operational challenges, the INEC postponed the February 16 election until February 23.
According to the INEC spokeswoman in Osun State, Mrs Sayo Adedokun, on Thursday, the commission paid N 4, 000 each to its more than 15, 000 ad hoc staff.
“ We have paid N 4 , 000 each to all ad hoc staff in the state , numbering about 15, 000 , ” she said on Friday .
Adedokun said the commission was adequately prepared for elections on Saturday.
She said all electoral material was in the state’s local government headquarters and would be moved later on Friday to the Registration Area Centres.
She said the commission would also hold a refresher course for all its chairmen and assistant chairmen before the elections on Saturday.
