American comedian and actor, William Henry Cosby Jr. was born on July 12th, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States of America.

In Philadelphia’s Mary Channing Wister Public School, Cosby served as both the baseball and track and field teams’ captains as well as the school’s class president. Instructors saw that he preferred to joke about rather than concentrate, and he referred to himself as the class clown.
Cosby maintained his participation in athletics and performed in plays at FitzSimons Junior High School. Cosby participated in baseball, football, basketball, and track at Philadelphia’s Central High School, a magnet institution and academically demanding college prep school.
He changed schools and attended Germantown High School, but he dropped out in grade 10. Cosby joined the Navy in 1956 and worked as a medical corpsman at the National Naval Medical Center in Maryland, the Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, and the Naval Station Argentia in Newfoundland, Canada.
He provided physical rehabilitation to members of the Navy and Marine Corps who had been injured in the Korean War. He served until 1960 and rose to the rank of 3rd class petty officer.
Cosby completed correspondence classes to obtain his high school equivalency diploma and was given a track and field scholarship to Temple University in 1961.
