ASUP Strike : Fed Poly Ede SU Leaders Storms Abuja for NAPS Protest,demands re-opening of Campuses

The Student’s Union leaders of the Federal Polytechnic Ede,have Corroboratively Joined their Counterparts under the umbrella of National association Polytechnic Students (NAPS) to demonstrate a mass protest at the State house over the prolongement of the ASUP Strike and the recent retardation in the Education Sector.

The Federal Polytechnic Ede Student’s Union leaders led by the Union President Com. Rufai Opeyemi Lukman gathered at Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, to commence the Protest against what they call Poor administration in Education.

The National Association of Nigeria Students (NAPS) will today converge to commence their protest over the Federal government failure to meet the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) which has crippled all academic activities in all Nigeria Polytechnics. The Polytechnic Students will march through the streets of Abuja to make their demands known to the government.

You will recall that the Polytechnic Students have been home for long as no concrete resolution has been reached in the ASUP negotiation with the Federal Government.

Similiarly, in pursuance of their demand to end the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic Strike, the Federal Polytechnic Student’s leaders are keen in making the polytechnic campuses work again . Ahead of the planned Protest the Polytechnic Union are determined not to leave Abuja till the Federal Government and the executive committee on Education respond positively to their demands.

According to the Federal Polytechnic Ede SU President,Comrade Rufai Opeyemi SIWES disclosed that ‘We are joining NAPS to embark on this solidarity peaceful protest on the need for the government to look into the basic demands of the Polytechnic lecturers.’
