Arsene Wenger reacts to Liverpool blowing invincibles chance with Watford defeat
Watford stunned the league leaders 3-0 in February to break the hearts of Liverpool fans who hoped to shatter the invincibles’ record as icing on the cake after winning the league.
Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who led the gunners to an unprecedented run in the 2003/2004 Premier League on their way to clinching the title has stated that he was satisfied after the Reds crashed at Watford.
And as a result, Arsenals record is still intact as they remain the only club to have played an entire season without a loss.
But that record looked set to be broken by the Reds juggernaut this term – with the Merseysiders not only emulating Arsenal’s record, but accumulating far more points.
Klopp’s men had gone 26 games unbeaten – winning 25 – before crashing at Nigel Pearson’s transformed Hornets.
He told beIN Sports: “Yes, it was very satisfying when I saw Liverpool lose. You always want to be the only one to do something.
“Liverpool could really have made it. But this just goes to show how difficult it is to repeat this feat.
“At least I received a lot of messages from Arsenal supporters on that day.”
Just recently, Arsene Wenger snubbed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and named Nwankwo Kanu as his best January signing for Arsenal.
Kanu joined Arsenal from Serie A side Inter Milan in a deal valued at £4.15 million deal in February 1999, and went on to become a huge success at the north London club.
During his stay with the Gunners, the former Nigerian international helped Arsenal win two Premier League titles and two FA Cups before he left to sign for West Brom five years later.
Wenger went on to make some success winter signings in the winter period for Arsenal. The players include Nicolas Anelka, Edu and Kolo Toure all who turned out to play an integral role during Wenger’s tenure.
Naijaparry earlier reported that Alexis Sanchez has explained that he lost confidence playing under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United which made him not to shine.
Before joining the Red Devils in 2018 from Arsenal, Alexis Sanchez was in the best form of his career at the Emirates stadium where he was scoring goals for the Gunners.
But the former Barcelona star failed to find his rhythm at Manchester United as he struggled under Jose Mourinho before he was loaned out to Inter Milan.
