Ari Lennox and Mr Smeg: R&B singer calls SA’s DJ ‘nauseating’

The ‘Pressure’ performer has long been candid about her struggles with social media and the scrutiny that comes with it.

In a more lighthearted moment yesterday (April 12), the star had a few words for South African DJ Mr Smeg (Michael Bucwa) – who “appeared” to be paying her a compliment:

Lennox’s tone surprised some; that is until Twitter users were reminded of prior comments allegedly made by the DJ in question.

Reposting a fan’s receipt, the songbird went on to say:

“These trolls are relentless. 4 months straight they won’t stop bothering me. To all of my beautiful supporters in South Africa I love you dearly. To these weird obsessed evil individuals i pray you get therapy for your obsession of me.”

She went on to add:

“Black twitter has been calling me ugly for years It don’t hurt like it once did. I recognize beauty standards vary and lots of self hate and oppression can play a big part in that. To my new troll fans theres not much more you can say.”

Lennox has since deleted the tweets above. She did follow up moments ago with:

“F this. Some folks will choose to remain stupid. I hope everyone has a beautiful day 😘❤️”
