ADELEKE: Appeal Court’s Decision Unfortunate, Concerning – APC
“The Court of Appeal’s decision validating the allegedly fraudulent certificate of the PDP’s governorship candidate in last year’s election is at least unfortunate and at most, concerning.”
This was the reaction of the All Progressives Congress contained in a statement, signed and circulated today in Osogbo by the party’s director of publicity, Barr Kunle Oyatomi.
According to the party, “It is unfortunate because it lowers expectations as to the calibre of aspirants who may be allowed to compete for strategic positions in a state like Osun.
“Also, it is very concerning that in Yorubaland, at this point in the 21st century, we are debating over whether a secondary school leaver should be deemed fit to become a state governor.
“We are a hundred times better than that in the state of Osun”, the APC said.
“The whole affair pressages a calamitous shadow, hanging over our heads. Nevertheless, it is not a reason at this point to feel dejected.
“The final legal authority is yet to speak on the issue, so nobody should consider the game over until the final whistle is blown.”
The APC argued that Ademola Adeleke’s certificate issue is multi-dimentional. The aspect addressed by the Appeal Court is just one out of several.
“That’s not where our attention should focus at the moment. We should be concentrated on June 24.
“That’s when the Supreme Court will hear the final presentations of the parties, after which a determinaton will be made as to who deserves to wear the governorship’s crown.ii
