Yoichi Sai (72), a film director known for “Where is the Moon?” revealed this in an interview.
Choi said, “There are several jobs that I would like to do as a film director and as the chairman of the directors’ association.
According to Choi, he was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2019 and underwent a total hysterectomy in April 2020. In the spring of 2021, he was found to have cancer that had spread to his lymph nodes and was hospitalized for two weeks.
He will be receiving a new anti-cancer treatment starting this month.

Who is Yoichi Sai?
Sai, a veteran pioneer in the Japanese cinema business, was born in Nagano Prefecture to a Korean father and a Japanese mother. From 2004 to 2014, he was the president of the Directors Guild of Japan.
Several film awards were given to “All Under the Moon,” starring Goro Kishitani and Ruby Moreno, in Japan. It centers on a cab driver of Korean descent who falls in love with a Filipina who works as a bar hostess in Tokyo.
For “Blood and Bones,” which starred Takeshi Kitano as the lead, a Korean man who immigrated to Osaka, Japan, in the 1920s during Japan’s colonial dominance of the Korean Peninsula, Sai was given the Japan Academy Film Prize for best director.
