Iranian Lawmakers Burn US Flag In Parliament After Trump Withdrew From Nuclear Deal (Photos)

Iranian politicians torched a US flag and chanted “Death to America” in an angry demonstration after Donald Trump withdrew from a nuclear deal. Lawmakers in Tehran have insulted the US president over his decision to pull out of the pact, saying he isn’t mentally fit for office.

Politicians also burned a symbolic copy of the Iran deal at the first session of parliament since Trump announced the US would pull out of the nuclear agreement.

Trump called the Obama-era deal “decaying and rotten” and “an embarrassment”, leaving the UK, France and Germany and other nations scrambling to save it amid fears the president’s move could lead to a new war in the Middle East.

Ali Larijani, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, insulted the US president and called the move a “political show” that threatens his country’s “peace and security”.

He said: “Trump does not have the mental capacity to deal with issues.”

He also said the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran should be ready to resume all nuclear activities.

General Mohammad Baqeri, the chief of staff of Iran’s military, has said Iran did not have to sign the deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

He added: “But that arrogant country (America) did not even stand by its signature.”
