Abba Kyari Police: Panel still investigating, not submitted its report
The Nigerian Police Force said the panel probing the alleged indictment of DCP Abba Kyari has not submitted its report to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba.
The Police said this in a statement on its verified Facebook page on Tuesday, signed by the force public relations officer, CP Frank Mba.
According to Mba, the probe into the alleged indictment is still ongoing by the NPF Special Investigation Panel (SPI).
Mba reassured that the report of the panel would be communicated accordingly after investigation is concluded.
IGP Alkali Baba, following an indictment by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation on Abba Kyari mandated a four-man panel to probe allegations of Kyari’s alleged involvement in a $1.1m Internet fraud.
The fraud was allegedly perpetrated by Abbas Ramon Olorunwa, popularly known as Ray Hushpuppi.
Kyari following the indictment was suspended as the panel began its probe two weeks ago.
Frank Mba’s statement:
The Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform the general public that the probe into the alleged indictment of DCP Abba Kyari by the FBI, being conducted by the NPF Special Investigation Panel (SIP), is still ongoing.
Members of the public are enjoined to note that the panel has not submitted its report to the Inspector General of Police, as being wrongly reported in some news outlet and online platforms.
The Force hereby reassures the public that the outcome of investigations by the probe panel would be communicated accordingly upon conclusion of the investigations.
