Oyo Assembly Passes Law To Give Full Autonomy To College of Education, Lanlate

The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed the College of Education, Lanlate, Oyo State (Amendment) Bill, 2020 into law.

The bill which now gave full autonomy to the College of Education was passed on Thursday at the Plenary after the presentation of the report of the Committee on Education by its Chairman ,Hon Olufemi Oluwafowokanmi (Ibadan South West 1)

The bill was jointly sponsored by the Speaker, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Muhammad Fadeyi , the Minority Leader, Hon Asimiyu Alarape and Hon Peter Ojedojun (Ibarapa North/Central).

Part of the amendment was the changing of the institution’s nomenclature from Lanlate College of Education to Oyo State College of Education,Lanlate to make it generally accepted.

The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin said with the passage of the bill, College of Education, Lanlate can now exercise independent control over its own activities, programmes, syllabus and curriculum.

According to the Speaker, the amendment will assist the College of Education to improve on learning , make more impacts in the Education sector and undertake activities without being under the control of another agency or body.

Other co-sponsored of the bill described its passage as a commendable feat.
