2019 AFCON: Omeruo Heads Super Eagles Into Round Of 16

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have become the first team to make it to the round of 16 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt with a 1-0 win over Guinea, Wednesday.

Kenneth Omeruo headed the West Africans ahead in the 73rd minute from a Simon Moses corner kick.

The Nigerians had dominated play for a long spell during the encounter but could not convert their chances.

However, after waves of attack in the final twenty minutes of play, Omeruo who is an on-loan Chelsea star, powered in a corner kick from winger Simon.

With the win, Nigeria now have six points from two games meaning that they have sealed a place in the round of 16.

Their next match and final Group B encounter will be against debutants Madagascar on Sunday, June 30th.
