EPL: Cundy Urges Chelsea to Replace Sanchez with Liverpool’s Kelleher

Former Chelsea star Jason Cundy has called on his former club to pursue Liverpool’s backup goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher, as a replacement for current first-choice keeper Robert Sanchez at Stamford Bridge.

Cundy praised Kelleher as a “top drawer” talent, asserting he is too skilled to remain a second-choice goalkeeper.

Kelleher has consistently impressed for Liverpool, especially with their first-choice Alisson Becker sidelined due to injury. The 25-year-old has previously hinted at his desire to secure a primary goalkeeper position soon.

Cundy believes Enzo Maresca’s side could provide Kelleher with that opportunity at the Premier League club in west London.

“What struck me over the weekend was that Chelsea’s No.1 isn’t as good as Liverpool’s No.2,” Cundy stated on talkSPORT.

“Whenever I watch [Caoimhin] Kelleher play, he looks top-notch. In the last 18 months to two years, he’s performed in the Carabao Cup and Champions League without ever seeming out of place. Liverpool doesn’t appear weaker with him in goal, which is high praise.

“He’s too good to be a backup. I want him [at Chelsea].”
