Morris joined the Buccaneers prior to the 2002 season as their defensive quality control coach. In Super Bowl XXXVII, the team defeated the Oakland Raiders 48–21 to win the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl with the top-ranked defense under Morris’ leadership.

He was promoted to defensive assistant in 2003. He served as the defensive backs coach’s assistant from 2004 to 2005. He joined Kansas State as their defensive coordinator after 2005.
