January Transfer: Mikel Arteta Eyes Three New Players for Arsenal
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta is looking at three players in the January transfer window.
Arteta wants to inject life to their faltering Premier League title challenge.
The Gunners were top of the Premier League table on Christmas Day, but have fallen to fourth place, sitting only one point ahead of north London rivals Tottenham after back-to-back defeats.
Arsenal have particularly struggled for goals, with 12 teams having at least one player who has scored more than the Gunners’ top scorer, Bukayo Saka.
According to The Times, Arteta wants a new forward as one of three areas the Spaniard wants to address.
Arsenal have been linked with Ivany Toney of Brentford, but are unlikely to be in a position to spend big this month.
The Bees are expected to demand in excess of £80million for Toney, who will return to action in two weeks’ time after serving a ban.
Victor Osimhen is another player Arteta is eyeing, though again his price tag could prevent any deal this month, while Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez has also caught the eye.
In addition to a new forward, Arteta also wants to sign a full-back and a holding midfielder.
