Corbett’s musical journey began early as he started playing the guitar at the tender age of seven. At 16, he worked as a security guard at the Capitol Music Hall. He completed his education at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, graduating in 1979.
Following high school, Corbett relocated to Bellflower, California, to live with his father and stepmother. He spent six years working at Kaiser Steel in Fontana.
