9 things a girl should never say to her boyfriend if she still want to be in the relationship
Have you ever seen your guy’s expression change and go from happy eyes to glassy eyes in a flash?
You’ve probably said something you really shouldn’t have.
Usually, guys are pretty accommodating with anything you say to them.
They’re easy going and can put up with a bit of insults and let downs.
But every now and then, there are a few things that may slip out of your mouth and hurt him way harder than you think.
You may not think much about your statement, but to your boyfriend, it may feel like a death blow to his heart.
1. “You remind me of my ex.”
You shouldn’t be talking about your ex all that much, unless it’s to share your history and get closer to your current partner, and comparing the two men is a big no-no. It’s uncomfortable for your current boyfriend, and it’ll also keep you stuck in the past. Everyone is different, that’s a fact. Let your old relationship go and focus on the new one.
2. “When we’re married/have kids…”
What are you thinking? The moment a girl starts telling me how she wants to have kids for me, I take up my shoe, dust it and escape for my life. You should never mention this to your boyfriend. Even if the guy has all it takes to make you happy forever, just keep that thought to yourself. Have you noticed this, for the married ladies? The day you told your husband you are pregnant. What was his reaction? Shock abi? Well, men tend to dey little humans quickly before realizing they are married to you.
3. “Never mind. I’ll do it myself.”
Don’t dismiss the offers of help from your man. A common love language is acts of service. Don’t deny him the opportunity to serve you. Sometimes it’s nice to feel needed.
4. “Your friend is really hot.”
In his mind, he should be the only one for you – even if you do window shop now and then. Don’t make your man insecure by telling him how hot you think his friends are, especially because you wouldn’t like it if he did it to you.
5. “Nothing’s wrong.”
You know na, e no go complete without including this one. You are silent for the past one hour, snapped at the chair after hitting your leg to it and then you answer “I’m fine.” This answer is really not right. Your boyfriend begins to have an inner battle with himself, maybe he had done something or said something out of context that you are not telling him. Well, the moment you think you are okay, your passive-aggression has subsided could be the time his own is just starting. Watch it!!! “Are you sure you’re okay?”
6. “Are you sure you are OK?”
You know this situation. Your boyfriend is unusually quiet, you begin to bug him with “honey, are you okay?” over and over again. You ask him this like 1 million times and each time his answers doesn’t satisfy you, you still re-ask the same question. Let me sound this clear. We are humans, we have our bad day too, we could be tired or not in the mood to talk. Please and please, allow us snap out of it. You don’t have to wait for us to scream at you and tell you to stop disturbing us.
7. “Your parents drive me crazy.”
Relationships between parents and their children are often complicated. Even if your boyfriend doesn’t get along with his parents, you don’t have the same history with them that he does, so don’t take that burden on your shoulders and instead try to remain as neutral as possible. If he has a good relationship with his parents, then it’s even more important to not be critical and instead grow your relationship with them.
8. “Shut up.”
You should never tell anyone to shut up, really. But especially not your boyfriend. Healthy relationships should be respectful and telling someone to “shut up” is the ultimate sign of disrespect. Those two words speak a thousand different – and hurtful – messages. They say: “I don’t want to hear you. I don’t care what you have to say”.
9. “Can you introduce me to that guy?”
This is definitely dangerous grounds. Unless you’re asking your boyfriend to introduce you to a celebrity friend of his, never tell a guy this line. If you seem excited to meet a friend of his, or end up flirting with another guy in front of your boyfriend, there’s a good chance your boyfriend may walk away insulted or infuriated
