Imsu NDCC Hostel Threatened as Fire Guts Building Close to it (Photos)


Panic has gripped residents of Amanze Njoku Street, Aladinma Monday 25th December as Fire gutted one of the buildings close to the NDDC student hostel, however threatening the 600-room proto-type hostel, Imsu Elijah discovered.

The hostel which was built by Niger Delta development commission (NDDC) in imsu was commissioned and handed over to the institution on Friday 19th July 2013 (5 years ago), since then till date, the 600- room proto-type hostel is yet to be rented to students thereby creating untold hardship for the students who must pay exorbitant rents for accommodations often far from the campus, with the current transportation difficulties facing students of the school.

What led to the fire is yet to be ascertained as at press time, however, the inferno has been put off by the Fire department of the Ministry of Public Safety.

Furthermore, it’s worth taking into cognizance that the completion of the NDDC edifice was fast tracked by the intervention of the former Vice Chancellor of the school, Prof Ukachukwu Awuzie.
