An 18year Old Boy identified as Abdulrasheed Usman has been arrested in Niger State for burgling a house in Minna, the state capital.
Found with the suspect was an LG plasma television, one ceiling fan, one GoTV decoder, two remote control sets and extension cable valued at N88,000.
Usman was said to have broken into a home at 19 Military Cantonment, 31 Artillery Brigade, Minna.
Usman, who is unemployed, told our correspondent that he worked with a gang that specialised in breaking into people’s houses and shops.
The stolen items, he said, were usually sold at give-away prices.
“We break into people’s homes after they must have gone to work and steal their valuables which we sell at give away prices.
“At times, we sold it to people who trade in stolen properties,” he explained.
“I have not been doing anything since I was born; my parents did not send me to school.
“In fact, they abandoned me and that was why I found myself breaking into houses. That is the only thing I can do to survive now.
“I cannot say I regret my action because my parents did not give me home training. I’m just like a street boy trying to survive,” Usman claimed.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the arrest, saying operatives recovered from the suspect one LG plasma television, ceiling fan, one GoTV decoder, two remote control and extension cable all valued N88,000.
He said the command had concluded investigations and charged the matter to court.
